Kgosi Ntlhe set to leave Peterborough United after rejecting new deal

South African left-back Kgosi Ntlhe has been told he can leave English League One side Peterborough United at the end of the season after rejecting a new contract with the club.

The 21-year-old, who won a single Bafana Bafana cap against Morocco under Gordon Igesund in 2013, has missed most of this season with a toe injury, though he recently returned to the matchday squad.

“Kgosi's been offered a contract and he's turned it down multiple times,” United chairman Darragh MacAnthony said.

“We've given him the security of a good contract but he didn't want to sign it so I guess we move on.”

Ntlhe, once tipped as a possible Premier League player, burst onto the scene at Peterborough in 2012 having been developed through the club’s youth system.

“We'll hold his registration and if he finds a club and gets fit in the summer we'll get compensation,” MacAnthony added.

“I think for players of that age group, and particularly someone who's got an injury-prone record at the moment, he needs to be playing football.”
