Bloemfontein Celtic's Tshepo Rikhotso sorry for injuring Andrea Fileccia during Free State derby

Bloemfontein Celtic defender Tshepo Rikhotso has expressed remorse for causing serious injury to Free State Stars striker Andrea Fileccia during the Free State derby.

Fileccia suffered knee ligament damage following a challenge by Rikhotso 17 minutes into the game at Goble Park, which ended 1-0 in Ea Lla Koto's favour.

The Belgian, who faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, is Stars' top scorer this season with six goals.

“I am still distressed by the pain caused to Fileccia by my tackle and feel sorry for him as I did not hack him deliberately. It was painful to see him on the stretcher because of my unintended actions,” Rikhotso told his club's website.

“I wish him a speedy recovery and apologise unreservedly to his team for causing an injury to such prolific striker who has contributed immensely to their progress this season. Andrea must remain strong, I will also call him to show my remorse.”
