William Twala reflects on Kaizer Chiefs debut against Bloemfontein Celtic

Posted: 20 January 2016 Time: 19:51

Kaizer Chiefs newcomer William Twala has revealed his legs were shaking when he made his debut in the 1-0 win at Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

Twala, who traded Chippa United for Amakhosi last week, came on as a 55th minute substitute for Ugandan winger Sula Matovu at Free State Stadium.

The 25-year-old announced his arrival when he struck the upright before earning a penalty, which was converted by Willard Katsande.

"I was overwhelmed to be named in the travelling squad to Bloemfontein," Twala told his club's website.

"I didn’t expect to be included in the squad after only having been an Amakhosi for two days.

"As we were walking through the tunnel, it suddenly occurred to me that life as a Chiefs player had begun. Then, in the second half, my name was called to come on as a substitute. That what I had meditated on became a reality.

"My knees were shaking when I received the first ball from 'Yeye' [Reneilwe Letsholonyane] and it was then that I realised that I am really part of the Amakhosi family."

He added: "It was a dream start for what I wish will blossom into a good football career at Amakhosi. I was emotional after the match and all glory goes to the Almighty."
