Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Thabo Rakhale says the team can still salvage their season by winning a trophy.
The Buccaneers flirted with CAF Confederation Cup glory late last year but stumbled at the final hurdle against Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel.
Eric Tinkler's side's remaining prospects of silverware lies in the Nedbank Cup and the League, although the latter prize looks to be out of reach given that they trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 14 points midway through the campaign.
"One cannot predict the future," says Rakhale.
"And with the character we showed against Maritzburg United [come-from-behind 3-3 draw] and the last two games, I believe we will move away from where we are. We still have the Nedbank Cup to play for."
Meanwhile, the former Polokwane City man is aware much is expected of him given his fan-favourite status in Mayfair.
"Every game fans expect you to be on your best but then I'm keeping my feet on the ground," he adds.
"I don't want to be big-headed with the fact that fans like me. I just play my normal game, play according to the instructions, as long as whatever I'm doing is working for the team."
Pirates are 11th in the Absa Premiership standings and next visit struggling Jomo Cosmos at Olen Park on Saturday.
