Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has encouraged Burundi forward Fiston Abdul Razak to work even harder as he battles to win a place in the team.

Razak made a grand entrance to PSL football, scoring on debut in the Brazilians’ season opener against Bloemfontein Celtic back in August in the MTN8, but has since started just one other game plus one substitute appearance in his time at Chloorkop.

Though the 24-year-old has fallen far down the pecking order, Mosimane is taking notice of his form in international football and has encouraged him to step up.

“Abdul Razak, it is unbelievable [how he is struggling to get into the team at Sundowns]. He is scoring in all his international games and you can check the records on that, but then he is struggling to crack it into the team here.

“It is the life of football, even though he scores when he plays for his national team against DRC, the guy keeps scoring. He must break the ice,” says Mosimane.

Razak joined Sundowns from Kenyan club Sofapaka at the beginning of the season.
