PSL transfer news: SuperSport confirm Mark Mayambela signing from Chippa United

SuperSport United have confirmed the signing of Mark Mayambela from Chippa United, as first revealed by KickOff.com.

SuperSport released a statement, which reads: 'SuperSport United and Chippa United have come to an agreement for the early release of midfielder, Mark Mayambela.

'The 28-year-old is United’s first signing of the January transfer window and will join his Matsatsantsa teammates with immediate effect.'

Mayambela is eager to make an impact for the Tshwane giants, who will face Polokwane City at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

"This is a great opportunity for me to come here and hopefully play some regular football at a big club like SuperSport United," said Mayambela.

"It was a move which happened very quickly and one which I am delighted to have been able to finalise so soon.

"I’m looking forward to meeting up with the lads. I’ve got my first training session this morning and I’m available to play should I be picked."

This website on Thursday reported Mayambela had secured his release from Chippa United six months before his contract was due to expire, paving the way for his move to Matsatsantsa.

Mayambela started his career at Bloemfontein Celtic before earning a move to Orlando Pirates in 2010. The 28-year-old later had spells with Mpumalanga Black Aces, Djurgardens and Royal Eagles prior to linking up with the Chilli Boys in July.
