Davies Nkausu grateful to join Free State Stars after securing release from Bloemfontein Celtic

Davies Nkausu is grateful to Free State Stars for offering him a fresh start following a lengthy layoff due to contractual issues.

The Zambian defender penned a deal with Stars last week until the end of the season after passing a trial in Bethlehem.

Nkausu's career had been put on hold until he recently settled a pay dispute with his former club Bloemfontein Celtic.

“I’m relieved and excited to have finally signed for Free State Stars,” Nkausu told Ea Lla Koto's website. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to play again after a long layoff.

“I’ve felt at home here since the first day I walked through the door for my trial. The players and the management have welcomed me like one of their own.

“The first thing that struck me was the team spirit. We are like a family at this club.

“A new coach has come in and that means a clean slate for all the players. I’m ready to knuckle down and make a contribution to the cause. All the players are up for the challenge.”
