Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has faith new signing Bongani Khumalo will add value to the Absa Premiership leaders.

Wits, who enjoy a two-point advantage at the summit, recruited Khumalo last week after the former Bafana Bafana captain severed ties with SuperSport United.

Hunt and the ex-Tottenham Hotspur centre-back won three consecutive league titles together at Matsatsantsa from 2007 to 2010.

“I said before the season started we got a lot of changes to the team. We’ve got a lot of new players. Since I’ve taken over at Wits we have one player left in two-and-a-half years. So we’ve rebuilt the team, a lot of new faces and I think all it needs is games,” Hunt told the club's website.

“We’ve got a good squad. We had [Sibusiso] Vilakazi on the bench [in a 3-1 win over Chippa United on the weekend), [Jabulani] Shongwe… three Bafana Bafana players on the bench [the other one is Siyabonga Nhlapo]. So the squad is strong. We’ve got Bongani [Khumalo] coming in, who will also add value. But we need to build momentum and take it from there.”

The Clever Boys next host title rivals Mpumalanga Black Aces at Bidvest Stadium on Friday, with kick-off set for 20h00.
