Ernst Middendorp and Kurt Lentjies felt hard done by after Maritzburg United drew 2-2 with SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Team of Choice twice took the lead the lead through Mondli Cele and Kwanda Mngonyama, but Clayton Daniels and Jeremy Brockie headed home late equalisers to ensure a share of the spoils.
Coach Middendorp was unsatisfied with a point in his first game in charge of the side after switching alliances from Free State Stars last month.
"I am deeply disappointed by this result. Only one team deserved to win and that was Maritzburg. But we messed it up ourselves."
The German, who is in his third stint with the club, believes his team could have killed off the contest in the first half.
"We had five or six chances in the first half, if we were not so naive in certain moments."
Man of the Match Lentjies was likewise disappointed with the result.
"It is disappointing how they scored both goals. The team played well. We missed a few chances in the first half and it came back to haunt us. But okay, we will take the point away from home."
The result leaves Maritzburg at the bottom of the Absa Premiership standings after 12 fixtures - two points behind University of Pretoria, who have a game in hand.
