Bloemfontein Celtic have promoted midfielder Shane April to their first team from their development structures.

April has penned a three-year contract with Phunya Sele Sele after featuring prominently in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC).

The MDC, which is in to its second year, serves as a Reserve League to the Absa Premiership.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of a player with such great technical ability," Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco told the club's website.

"He has enormous potential and we must commend our youth development coaches, Ditheko Mototo, James Madidilane and Jeffrey Lekgetla for their contribution towards nurturing players for our senior team."

He added: "Promoting players like Shane shows our willingness to give youngsters a chance to grow and eventually represent our country like we did with players like Tshepo Rikhotso and Vusi Shikweni. We will in the future continue allowing competent players to be promoted and afforded the chance to grow as soccer players."
