Jody February deflects praise after starring against Senegal in U-23 AFCON

National U-23 goalkeeper Jody February insists he is no penalty specialist despite his heroics against Senegal in an Olympic qualifying decider in Dakar on Saturday.

South Africa edged the west Africans 3-1 on penalties following a goalless 90 minutes in a CAF U-23 AFCON third place playoff.

Ajax Cape Town's February saved a penalty in regulation time and three in the shootout as Owen da Gama's side joined Nigeria and Algeria in booking a spot at Rio 2016.

February said: "Thanks for all the congratulations. I just wanted to contribute to the team. I am no penalty specialist. I am at a loss for words, just happy.

"We showed that with passion, determination and a lot of sweat we can achieve things as South Africans. This is a good start for things to come."
