Mpumalanga Black Aces and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane tells KickOff.com that his annual tournament is growing in leaps and bounds.
Mabokgwane, who captained Bafana in recent 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Angola which they won 3-1 and 1-0 to reach the group stage, says he is looking forward to giving back to the community during the festive season.
“This is the third edition of the tournament and it will be played at Moletjie Ga-Rammetloana outside Polokwane. The venue is All Stars FC ground and the entrance fee is R10,” he tells this website. “The dates for the tournament are from December 24 to 27. There will be a top 16; eight for seniors and eight for the U-17s,” he says.
The 27-year-old says the main aim of the event is to help out those in need.
“I always wanted to give back to the community and there would be other community work as the tournament falls under the foundation [Jackson Mabokgwane Foundation] which aims to raise funds and assist the poor. The aim is to assist the poor with food, clothes and so on, as well as kids with school shoes and uniforms. I also want to do coaching clinics and provide bursaries among many other things,” he continues.
“On the other hand, I’m looking to test myself if I can be a good coordinator. I also want to make sure this tournament grows bigger every year,” he adds.
