Reyaad Pieterse indicates he will only leave Kaizer Chiefs for Europe

Posted: 4 December 2015 Time: 11:28

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse has indicated he will only leave the club for an overseas move despite his lack of game-time.

Pieterse – whose contract with Chiefs expires in June next year meaning he can sign a pre-contract with any other club in January – is effectively the third-choice keeper at Naturena when Itumeleng Khune and Brilliant Khuzwayo are fit.

And while Pieterse has reportedly attacted interest both domestically and abroad, the 23-year-old still feels his game can develop with the Soweto giants.

"With regards to my contract negotiations, I don't really want to get into that ... for now I am a Kaizer Chiefs player and I just want to do the best I can for this big brand," Pieterse tells KICK OFF magazine.

"I haven't signed a new contract ... I just want to see out my time here and if something better comes from overseas then I am willing to take it."

He added: "I am at the best place in the country - going anywhere else locally wouldn't do justice to my career.

"Being at Chiefs has been wonderful, and if something happens here then I am willing to take it."

The former Shamrock Rovers man joined Amakhosi in 2012/13 following a stint with Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers. He has made three League starts this season.
