Maritzburg United Kaizer Chiefs PSL report

Reneilwe Letsholonyane struck in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Kaizer Chiefs salvaged a 1-1 draw against Maritzburg United on Saturday.
Kurt Lentjies gave the Team of Choice the lead from the penalty spot after 20 minutes after Tsepo Masilela handled Philani Zulu's cross inside the area, and that's how it stayed until virtually the last kick of the game as 'Yeye' popped up to earn a point.
It was a lively opening 45 minutes of end-to-end attacking football from both sides, with Hendrick Ekstein and Bernard Parker combining well going forward for Amakhosi.
Parker had the best chance in the first half after receiving the ball on the edge of the area from the lively Ekstein before trying to bend one in at the far post, but Tawfeeq Salie in the Maritzburg goal produced a fingertip save to keep it out.
Despite bossing the possession, that was as good as Chiefs gave in the whole game until George Lebese had a chance in the 87th minute, but he could not direct Tsepo Masilela's cross on target using his weaker right foot.
The absence of Siphiwe Tshabalala was also felt as Steve Komphela's side failed to make the most of their set-pieces, while Maritzburg defended stubbornly to frustrate Chiefs all the way until the seventh minute of stoppage time.
But there was to be late, late drama as substitute Lesholonyane drilled home an equaliser from Lebese's nod-down in the seventh minute of injury time to rescue a point.
The result will not help Chiefs too much as they remain eight points behind Absa Premiership leaders Bidvest Wits, while the late goal conceded is gutting for Maritzburg, who are denied their second League win and remain bottom of the log.
