Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo says gaining revenge was not Amakhosi's primary motivation heading into their Soweto Derby victory on the weekend.
Chiefs edged Orlando Pirates 6-5 on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless football in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals.
The Glamour Boys set up a Final date with Mamelodi Sundowns and eased the disappointment of their 3-1 League loss to Pirates the weekend before.
Khuzwayo, who was named Man of the Match, said on his club's website: "We beat our rivals Orlando Pirates. It wasn’t so much about revenge. It was more about getting to another cup final with a chance to win a trophy."
Meanwhile, Khuzwayo thanked the "Chiefs family" for supporting him during his time on the sidelines.
"Thanks to the Kaizer Chiefs family for supporting me. I sustained an injury early this season and, because of this, it wasn’t easy for me."
He added: "I kept believing that my chance would come again."
