Bidvest Wits took control of the Absa Premiership summit with a 3-1 win over ten-man Jomo Cosmos on Sunday night.
Daine Klate, Phakamani Mahlambi and Sibusiso Vilakazi netted for Wits, while Charlton Mashumba scored a late consolation for Cosmos, who had defender Thatho Lingwati sent off in the first half at Bidvest Stadium.
Wits also ended the game with ten men as veteran winger Dillon Sheppard received a second caution for a handball in the 89th minute.
Gavin Hunt's team now have 23 points from 10 games - three points more than Mamelodi Sundowns and five ahead of third-placed Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Ezenkosi are 14th on the table with seven points from 10 games.
Wits made the ideal start, as winger Klate struck with a free-kick as early as the fourth minute after he was fouled by Lingwati.
The Students' prospects improved further in the 27th minute when defender Lingwati was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident involving Mahlambi.
Mahlambi doubled Wits' lead in the 49th minute when he converted a delivery by Siyabonga Nhlapo.
Mahlambi turned provider seven minutes later as his cross was smashed into the net by Bafana Bafana attacker Vilakazi.
Zimbabwean striker Mashumba then reduced the deficit in the 84th minute before Sheppard was given his marching orders just before full-time.
