Maritzburg United hit five in MDC action

Maritzburg United thrashed Mpumalanga Black Aces 5-0 in Saturday morning's MultiChoice Diski Challenge action while SuperSport United beat Platinum Stars 1-0 at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve. 

Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars bshared the spoils in an exciting 1-1 draw in the afternoon. Ovidy Kararu scored for Chiefs on the stroke of half-time, but Man of the Match Thabo Moseki equalised from the penalty three minutes after the restart.

Polokwane City rose and shone to beat Ajax Cape Town 2-0 via goals by Thabang Sebone (12th minute) and Sammy Seabi (57).

But the day belongs to Mohau Mokate, who scored a hat-trick for Maritzburg as their reserves showed the first team how it's done.

Ryan Moon set United on their way after 12 minutes, and Mokate took over with goals in the 25th and 32nd minute for a 3-0 half-time scoreline.

The rout of Aces continued after the interval, Menzi Chili making it 4-0 after 65 minutes, before Mokate clinched his hat-trick in the 90th minute.

United saw off Dikwena thanks to Justice Mgobhozi's 56th minute goal.

Sunday's action at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve kicks off at 10am when University of Pretoria meet Mamelodi Sundowns. Then at midday, Chippa United  face Orlando Pirates.
