Mpumalanga Black Aces defender Lehlohonolo Nonyane has confessed that he is battling with emotions after being selected for Bafana Bafana.
The Mpumalanga Black Aces left-back, who has been in fine form over the past few months, has been called up to the squad to face Angola in 2018 World Cup qualifiers next month.
The former United FC and Jomo Cosmos player has previously played for Bafana in CHAN qualifiers. He and overseas-based Dino Ndlovu were the only surprise call-ups in the squad announced by head coach Shakes Mashaba in Johannesburg today.
South Africa travel to Luanda for the first leg on November 13 before hosting the visitors in Durban on November 17.
“I am having mixed emotions. I am very happy at the same time,” Nonyane tells KickOff.com.
“It is every player’s dream to represent his country. It shows that there is something right I am doing. I am ready to grab this opportunity with both hands and try my level-best do well for the national team.”
Nonyane reveals that he was notified of his call-up by his club teammate Jackson Mabokgwane after the goalkeeper read the story on this website.
“I was told about the call-up by Jackson [Mabokgwane] after he read it on the Kick Off website. So I also went there on Kick Off website to check and was excited to see my name in the national team,” he adds.
