Lorenzo Gordinho confident of top three finish

Posted: 22 October 2015 Time: 16:38

Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho believes the club will definitely finish amongst the top three in the Absa Premiership, and says it’s still too early in the season to give judgement on the team.

Amakhosi succumbed to their fifth draw in seven League matches following a goalless encounter against second-from-bottom Jomo Cosmos on Tuesday night, with fans growing impatient with Steve Komphela’s side’s failure to collect maximum points.

But Gordinho, who has made two starts in the League the season, feels people are being too quick to judge the performance of the team, and insists there is still plenty of time to make their way up the table.

“We’ll definitely be up there in the top three [at the end of the season],” he says. “There’s still time; it’s very early right now to see and base our whole season on six or seven fixtures.”

The 21-year-old defender also argues that Chiefs are doing the right things and playing well, but adds that they need to keep working hard until things start to go in their favour.

“We just have to carry on with what we’re doing and grinding away because we are doing the right things,” he adds.

“It’s not like we’re playing negatively; we’re playing positively and confidently, so we just need to get to that point where everything’s for us. Once that happens then we’ll be unstoppable.”
