PSL transfer news: Maritzburg United recruit Abia Nale

Posted: 22 October 2015 Time: 08:18

Maritzburg United have enlisted the services of Abia Nale, who is expected to make his debut against Mamelodi Sundowns next Saturday.

Nale started training with the Absa Premiership strugglers following his departure from Mpumalanga Black Aces in the off-season.

United initially decided against signing the 29-year-old as the club prioritised finding a replacement for sacked coach Mandla Ncikazi last month.

However, once Clive Barker was appointed Nale was called back for a second assessment, which has proven fruitful.

"We have signed him but unfortunately the clearance wasn't effective so he will only play on the 31st [against Sundowns]," Barker revealed after the team's 2-0 loss to Chippa United on Wednesday night.

"Abia was supposed to make his debut and he didn't get the clearance that we wanted, and he would have made a difference.

"Let's hope the hierarchy will get him signed. They say by the 31th he would able to play for us, so we hope it goes that way."

Nale, an attacking midfielder, previously worked with Barker at AmaZayoni.
