Kazan coach Kurban Burdyev has been a long-time admirer of the former Ajax Amsterdam man. Sources in Russia say they made a R60-million bid, but that it was turned down by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.
Burdyev stated his intention last month when he said: “Pienaar is at Everton, but he doesn’t always play.”
However, the player has figured strongly since his return from an ankle injury and manager David Moyes responded: “We’re not intending to sell. Everton have told Rubin Kazan the midfielder will not be going anywhere for €4.7 million (R60-million).”
The South African international, who has won 36 caps to date, signed a permanent deal with the Toffees in 2008 after a successful loan spell at Goodison Park in 2007/08 from Borussia Dortmund.
