Helder Pelembe says nothing to prove to Orlando Pirates

Posted: 13 October 2015 Time: 18:20

On-form Bloemfontein Celtic striker Helder Pelembe insists he has nothing to prove to Orlando Pirates.

The 28-year-old Mozambican international made just four substitute appearances for the Buccaneers last season as he played second fiddle to the likes of Kermit Erasmus and Lehlohonolo Majoro.

However, he has already netted three times for Siwelele this season – though not to prove anything to his former employees.

“I’m not trying to play well to prove Orlando Pirates fans wrong because they know I can score,” he tells KickOff.com.

“You know how football works … not everyone can play and sometimes it becomes difficult for a player that is not playing.

“At Pirates it was never about me, it was about the team. I never got the chance to play and now I’m here and I’m just trying to do my job well.”

Celtic have started the Absa Premiership campaign well and are currently sitting third, but Pelembe is not getting carried away by title talk.

“It’s too early to talk about winning anything because the League has just started,” he says.
