Bidvest Wits utility player Phumlani Ntshangase has identified the area which he feels his side need to work on in order to challenge for silverware this season.
The Students lie fourth in the Absa Premiership standings, having scored just eight League goals thus far this season, and Ntshangase believes his side need to start hitting the back of the net more regularly if they are hoping to secure trophies this season.
“I believe this team has everything in terms of quality and talent, youth and experience,” he said.
“We have every kind of a play and we play some really exciting football.
“But the problem with us is we are not scoring goals, we can’t convert the many chances we create each game.
“And I believe that if we are to win anything this season that is one area of our game that we really need to improve on.”
The 20-year-old insists his side have moved on from their shock Telkom Knockout exit at the hands of Free State Stars, and feels this weekend’s League clash against Jomo Cosmos is an opportunity for the club to revive themselves.
“I think the loss to Free State Stars [in the TKO] is behind us and a thing of the past now,” he said.
“This weekend we have another opportunity to prove what we can do and by the look of things, everyone at training is ready and eager to return to action.
“Obviously we are missing a lot of player’s still who are on international duty but preparations for Cosmos [Jomo] are underway and we want to bounce back from our elimination in the Telkom.
“We are also playing at home which is a much needed boost for our preparations.”
Kick-off at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday is scheduled for 20:15.
