Gladwin Shitolo enjoying freedom at Golden Arrows since loan move from Orlando Pirates

Posted: 9 October 2015 Time: 18:09

Golden Arrows midfielder Gladwin Shitolo says he has been given the freedom to express himself since his loan move to the club from Orlando Pirates.

Arrow coach Serame Letsoaka has allowed Shitolo to move further forward during attacks yet the player still feels the team needs to be more ruthless in front of goal and convert the chances they are creating.

The 26-year-old, whose contract with the Buccaneers is up at the end of the season, opened his scoring account in the Telkom Knockout victory over Ajax Cape Town last Saturday.

In the first game of the season at home against University of Pretoria, he was named man of the match, and against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second match, also at home, he set up the winning goal that was scored by Ryan Chapman, which was virtually the latter’s first touch on the ball as Arrows walked away with three points.

“I think I've got freedom here at Arrows and the coach has given me the freedom to play because he knows how I can play,” Shitolo tells KickOff.com.

“So I've got that freedom and when I'm on the field of play the coach will shout at me and say 'Shitolo play' because he knows I can play.

“Having said that, I think as a team we need to work on our finishing so we can convert our chances into goals and that is what we need to do.”

Last season Shitolo was loaned out to Platinum Stars as a makeweight to bolster Dikwena in the second half of the season as Bucs brought in Tshepo Gumede.

Shitolo, who has started six of the seven matches the club has played so far, is one of three players on loan from Pirates along with Philani Zikalala and Mwape Musonda.

Arrows will resume League action on 17 October following the international break with a tricky one at home against Bloemfontein Celtic at Chatsworth Stadium.
