Etuhu prepared to fight

Posted: 2008-12-30 15:00

Dickson Etuhu made his first start for Fulham in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea – now he is ready to fight for a regular place in the team.

“There is no point pushing too hard for lost time, but rather to fight for the team and that’s what I have to do,” he said. “Now I have to work harder and hopefully I can establish myself in the team again.”

Etuhu joined Fulham from Sunderland in August and made his debut as a substitute in their 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on December 20, but then underwent a knee operation which has seen him kicking his heels on the sidelines.

But, have come through the game against Chelsea unscathed, he is looking forward to a long run in the team.

“It was great to feel the atmosphere once again; it’s something I have really missed,” the Nigerian told BBC Sport. “It’s difficult when you come back from a long-term knee injury. I feel as though I’m getting stronger. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season now.”

The 26-year-old is confident Fulham can gain momentum from their point won against Chelsea.

“Nothing is impossible and we know we can start translating our performances to maximum points. The last game the 2-2 draw against Chelsea is a true reflection that we can achieve more than people expect of us.”
