The Zimbabwean marksman scored 19 goals in the National First Division as he helped the club to PSL promotion. But he’s found the going tough in the topflight with no goal in the first six matches having missed a penalty against Bloemfontein Celtic on September 24 at Free State Stadium, where Cosmos lost 1-0.

"His confidence took a knock and that's why he missed a penalty and he also took a free-kick which would have made the Boks proud,” Sono tells

“We thought let's rest him because he's young, he's 22 and fragile as well he loses his confidence so quickly. In the second half [against Sundowns] we saw the old Mashumba. He was buzzing and taking shots," he adds.

Cosmos have scored just one goal in six League matches and that came from defender Cheslyn Jampies in the 2-1 loss to Platinum Stars on September 13 at Olen Park Stadium.
