Danny Venter hails Ernst Middendorp impact

Free State Stars midfielder Danny Venter says the arrival of Ernst Middendorp as head coach was just the tonic the team needed.

Ea Lla Koto were languishing at the bottom without a point when the German arrived, but have since won two and drawn one of their last three matches to shoot up to 10th.

Venter has been impressed with Middendorp’s methods, telling KickOff.com: “He told us about his game-plan and as players we have to go out and implement it on the field.

“His philosophy is simple … he just told us straight out what he wants, and so far, so good.”

But Venter has warned his teammates not to get too far ahead of themselves.

"We are taking it game by game. Of course we were disappointed with how we started, but we have turned the corner now.”

Venter penned a new three-year deal with the club at the end of last season.
