Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa revealed his delight following Thursday’s signing of former Bidvest Wits midfielder Erwin Isaacs.
The 28-year-old was snapped up by the Urban Warriors, where he spent last season on loan, after being released by Wits, and De Sa says it was a no-brainer in coaxing the attacker back to Ajax.
“We are very happy to have Erwin back,” the Ajax head coach told reporters. “It came as a bit of a surprise to us that he was available, so we grabbed him straight away. It took about half an hour to convince the CEO that we need him, so that was pretty quick.”
De Sa feels Isaacs will provide much-needed experience in his youthful side, saying the entire squad was thrilled to have him back.
“I think he just adds something to the team: he’s a Cape Town boy, he’s spent some time with us and he was pretty successful,” he said. “He’s happy to be here, and just his whole character and the way he goes about things is what we need.
“In a team of very young players, he gives us a bit of mettle, and I think the whole side was happy to have him back.”
Isaacs will be available for selection when Ajax take on Polokwane City at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night.
