Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has high hopes Bangaly Soumahoro can fill the shoes of Alje Schut once he settles at Chloorkop.

Mosimane was desperately seeking a replacement for influential centre-back Schut, who skippered Downs to PSL glory in 2014 and Nedbank Cup success last season before returning to Holland.

'Jingles', however, is mindful Soumahoro will need time to adapt to his new surroundings.

"Let's give him a chance to settle," Mosimane says.

"It's not easy for foreign players to make it in South Africa, especially the West Africans. The tempo and speed is quick, they need to adjust.

"Look at [Fiston Abdul] Razak, he struggled a little bit with the speed of the game but he will be there. He has played two games and scored one goal. He played for his country at the weekend and scored."

Meanwhile, Mosimane was pleased with Tiyani Mabunda's performance in the 2-0 win over the Nedbank Ke Yona team at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday. The midfielder was on loan at Free State Stars in 2014/15.

"He said, 'coach, please give me a chance, I want to show what I am capable of'. I said, 'let's see on the pitch'.

"What I saw on Sunday you can't write him off."
