University of Pretoria skipper Tebogo Monyai is confident new signings such as Lennox Bacela and Siyabonga Ngubane can help ailing AmaTuks bounce back strongly after the international break.
Tuks started their campaign with a 1-0 loss to PSL returnees Golden Arrows. They then hammered Polokwane City 3-0 before being humiliated 4-0 by Chippa United in their previous outing.
Sammy Troughton's charges next face Bidvest Wits on September 13, with the Clever Boys smarting from their MTN8 semi-final exit at the hands of Ajax Cape Town.
“We are not panicking yet, but we know that we did not start well and need to adjust fast,” says Monyai.
“We have had a good signing in striker Lennox Bacela and right-back Siyabonga Ngubane, who returned from Mpumalanga Black Aces and the three youngsters recently promoted to the senior team. But it will obviously take some bit of time for new players to adjust and understand our style of play.
“The 4-0 loss to Chippa was a wake-up call and we hope the international break will give us enough time to work things out and gain some consistency. We have usually been defensively organised and since we got promoted to the topflight league, we have not conceded so many goals in a single game. We lacked some basics in our last game and we need to work on that before we meet Wits in about two weeks’ time.”
