Kaizer Chiefs have retained three out of five players they made available for loan moves after no suitors surfaced at the close of the transfer window yesterday.
Simphiwe Mtsweni, Levy Mokgothu and Ovidy Karuru have been registered by the League champions for the new season, with Karuru the only one to feature to date as he appears to have convinced Steve Komphela that he is worthy of more playing opportunities.
The club announced in June that the trio, as well as Chris Matombo and Zitha Macheke, would go out on loan to enable them opportunities of game-time elsewhere after they all battled to break into the team last season.
Mtsweni and Karuru each managed just two Nedbank Cup starts last season, while Mokgothu is still yet to play in an official match for Chiefs since arriving from Moroka Swallows at the beginning of last season.
Mokgothu and Mtsweni – who has been struggling with injury of late – are both left-backs who will know that their chances of playing are very slim with Tsepo Masilela and his back up Keagan Ritchie the trusted choices in that position.
