PSL transfer news: SuperSport consider loaning out Roscoe Pietersen

Posted: 27 August 2015 Time: 10:09

SuperSport United defender Roscoe Pietersen is due to head out on loan yet again following Matsatsantsa’s decision not to register him with the PSL for this season.

Pietersen has just recently returned from a six-month loan spell at AmaZulu – who decided against taking up the option of a further year that they had on his deal when he joined them at the beginning of the year.

The 26-year-old started six games and came on as a substitute once during his stay in Durban but has found himself down the pecking order in all the positions that he plays, including holding midfield where he was tried in pre-season. He can also play as a central defender and right-back.

Glyn Binkin, who represents Pietersen, confirms that they are exploring some options.

“He may be going out on loan but we are working on something for him,” says Binkin.

Though Pietersen is still training with the club the latest player registration list from the PSL shows that he is not registered.

Meanwhile, SuperSport have loaned youthful midfielder Skhumbuzo Mazibuko to ambitious First Division side Vasco da Gama, while Gert Barends is also training with the club.

Mazibuko broke through into the SuperSport first team during the 2013-14 season, going on to start three games but then disappeared last season.

Barends was signed by Matsatsantsa last month on a one-year deal. The former Santos man spent the past season at Chippa where he started 14 games.

Vasco officials have confirmed the signing of Mazibuko on loan, while Barends is still training and will have to revert to SuperSport if not signed by the end of the transfer window on Monday.

The Cape Town club already also has Jino Moeketsi on loan from SuperSport.
