Elias Pelembe focussed on Bidvest Wits not Mamelodi Sundowns

Bidvest Wits winger Elias Pelembe insists his focus is on his new team despite his former coach Pitso Mosimane's comments about his return to Lucas Moripe on Saturday.

The Clever Boys travel to the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium for what promises to be an enthralling game against The Brazilians, as both teams have a similar attacking style.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has raised the stakes somewhat ahead of the clash, saying that he wants ex-midfielder Pelembe to score, but as long as his team takes the three points back to Chloorkop.

However, the Mozambican international has maintained his reserved approach and declined to comment, saying that his focus is solely on the collective effort of his team.

“It’s going to be a normal game, and my focus is only on helping the team,” Pelembe tells Kickoff.com

“[The game against Sundowns] is nothing special, but it won’t be easy. We just have to play with our normal, good mentality as we do in any other game.”

The Tshwane side have had a slow start to the new domestic season after playing to a goalless draw against Platinum Stars in their opening Absa Premiership fixture.

Meanwhile, Wits come into this encounter with the hopes of collecting another three points after beating Ajax Cape Town at home a fortnight ago.

“We are playing well at the moment, but in this game anything is possible and either team can win. I think the team who makes less mistakes during the game will have the edge,” the experienced midfielder adds.

“It will be nice to score, because obviously it would add to the one I’ve scored already, but I’m just going to focus on playing my normal game and see what happens.”

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 15h00 on Saturday.
