Marc van Heerden ready for First Division

Posted: 20 August 2015 Time: 09:45

Marc van Heerden says playing in the National First Division this season is not a setback, but rather a challenge.

The left-back was part of the AmaZulu team that got relegated in 2014/15, and many expected the Bafana Bafana player to move on, with the likes of Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United reportedly interested.

However, Van Heerden will instead line up for Usuthu when the NFD kicks off this weekend, and he insists he is okay with that.

"Look, sometimes in life you have to take a step back to see the bigger picture in life," he tells KickOff.com.

"There are a lot of things that people don't see behind the scenes that we as footballers have to take into consideration, so I don't see this as a setback, I see it as challenge in my life.

“I will go about this challenge as I always do and work hard, and try and get the team back [to the PSL] as quick as possibly."
