Mamelodi Sundowns to finalise squad

Posted: 17 August 2015 Time: 10:40

Mamelodi Sundows have pleaded for patience as they look to finalise their squad in the next two weeks.

The Brazilians have been uncharacteristically quiet in the transfer window, so far signing just one player in Burundian striker Fiston Abdul Razak.

More importantly, they have let go a number of fringe players, including the likes of Elias Pelembe (Bidvest Wits), Rodney Ramagalela (Golden Arrows), Bongi Ntuli and Emmanuel Matthias (both Platinum Stars).

The futures of players like Kwanda Mngonyama, Rheece Evans and Lindokuhle Mbatha still need to decided, and Sundowns communications director Thulani Thuswa says that will happen before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

“We urge the fans and media to be patient because our technical team is working on finalising the squad before the transfer window,” he tells KickOff.com.

“There are still two weeks to go. Mbatha is our player but he has been injured, and Kwanda is our player too. People must be patient; we will make these announcements when the time is right.”

Sundowns, who finished second behind Kaizer Chiefs in the 2014/15 Absa Premiership, will look for a first League win of the season this weekend when they host Bidvest Wits.

“This is our first League match of the season at Lucas Moripe Stadium,” Thuswa adds. “Fans must come to the stadium and rally behind our troops. It’s very important for us to get a good welcome and the players will be motivated too.”

Tickets sell for R40 adults and R10 for children.
