SuperSport United close to signing deals with Fagrie Lakay and Bongani Khumalo

KickOff.com can reveal that Supersport United are chasing the signature of Santos striker Fagrie Lakay.

The 18-year-old forward was a revelation for the Under-20 national team last year, helping them qualify for the African Youth Championships earlier this year.

Lakay was also part of the Bafana Bafana that participated in the Cosafa Cup tournament after becoming the youngest-ever capped Bafana Bafana player when he came on as a substitute in South Africa’s 2-0 Nelson Mandela Challenge win over Ivory Coast in November.

According to source close to United, negotiations between the club and Santos are now at an advanced stage.

“There are few things to be ironed out. The deal should go through anytime,” the source tells KickOff.com.

Matsatsantsa are also believed to be in the final stages of sealing a short term contract for centre-back Bongani Khumalo, with the club keen on finalising the deal ahead of tonight’s MTN8 clash against Bidvest Wits.
