PSL transfer news: SuperSport United close to finalising Khumalo deal

Posted: 29 July 2015 Time: 14:34

SuperSport United are closing in on the signing of former Bafana Bafana captain Bongani Khumalo.

Khumalo, who was released by Tottenham Hotspur last month, played for Matsatsantsa in the Cape Town Cup this past weekend.

The 28-year-old centre-back shone in a three-year spell for United before joining Spurs in January 2011.

"We should be wrapped up with Bongani Khumalo by tomorrow," Club CEO Stan Matthews is quoted as saying by the League at the team's 2015/16 away kit launch in Randburg on Wednesday.

"We're hoping to unveil Bongani Khumalo and a surprise signing next week."

Khumalo failed to make an impact at White Hart Lane, and was loaned out to Preston North End, Reading, PAOK, Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United.

SuperSport unveiled recruits Michael Boxall, Phumelele Bhengu and Grant Kekana at the midweek function, as well as Denwin Farmer, who has been promoted from the club's development ranks.
