Tinkler on Pirates defensive options vs CS Sfaxien

Posted: 26 July 2015 Time: 11:57

Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says he has plenty of options in defense ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash with CS Sfaxien this evening.

Bucs are without the services of central defensive pair Rooi Mahamutsa and Ayanda Gcaba due to respective injuries, and the two did not travel to Tunisia.

However, Siyabonga Sangweni, Happy Jele, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thabo Matlaba and Patrick Phungwayo are all available for tonight's match, and Tinkler believes those are enough options.

“Siyabonga Sangweni and Happy Jele they will be the central defence pairing. But you know we got options in Ntsikelelo, Matlaba, Phungwayo,” says Tinkler.

“Issa Sarr, if need be, can also do a job there [in central defense], but we can always push Matlaba to right back, Patrick to left and Nyauza to central defence.

"I have options it is not the end of the world.”

Pirates will be looking to bounce back to winning ways against their Tunisian opponents tonight, following their 2-1 defeat at home to Zamalek a fortnight ago.
