Bidvest Wits have confirmed their interest in Andrew Mwesigwa but have been unable to agree personal terms with the Ugandan defender.
Mwesigwa has impressed during the time he has spent training with Wits but the deal has hit a snag as the player and club appear to have different ideas about his contract.
“Negotiations have been difficult, though we are still hoping that we will still be able to get him because we are really interested. Reaching an agreement on his personal terms has been the stumbling block,” reveals Wits CEO Jose Ferreira.
Mwesigwa has a wealth of experience having captained the Uganda national team and previously played in Iceland and China. He has been free since leaving Kazakhstan Premier League club FC Ordabasy.
Ivica Stankovic, who represents Mwesigwa, acknowledges that they have been in negotiations with Wits but negotiations have broken down.
“We have failed to agree on terms and we will be moving on,” says Stankovic tells KickOff.com.
Wits coach Gavin Hunt previously told this website that he had no idea who Mwesigwa was.
