KickOff.com has picked up on that Zimbabwean goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro will be staying at AmaZulu after all, with Platinum Stars and Chippa United having frozen their pursuit of his services.
Murambadoro is already back in Durban for pre-season with Usuthu with whom he had an option of an extension to his loan deal, which ran from the beginning of the year to June.
Murambadoro has spent the past six months on loan from Mpumalanga Black Aces and had an option of extending with Usuthu for another year which he has since committed to after an impressive showing in the 14 games that he played.
Japhet Zwane, the team manager at Usuthu, and the player’s representative Benjamin Nkhato have both confirmed to this website that the big goalkeeper is staying.
“He is staying with us and is already training,” says Zwane.
“Energy is definitely continuing with his stay with AmaZulu,” adds Nkhato.
The 33-year-old arrived at Usuthu in January and went on to play 14 games and though he kept just three clean sheets he was commended for bringing stability to a backline that had looked in crisis prior to his arrival.
Before the start of the past season Murambadoro had not played any PSL football for two years after being discarded by Bidvest Wits where he had actually last played a match during the 2011-12 season.
In 2012-13 he still had a contract with Wits but wasn’t used and then moved to Aces the following season but never got any game time until the beginning of last season.
