Golden Arrows favourites to sign Lerato Manzini

Golden Arrows look set to hijack Chippa United’s attempts to sign free agent Lerato Manzini, who was released by Bloemfontein Celtic last month.

Manzini played the first half of last season on loan to SuperSport United but barely featured before going back to Celtic during the January transfer window.

Aftersec Sports Group CEO Lizwe Mthethwa reveals that the player was set to join Chippa United recently but they could not agree on some clauses in the contract.

Abafana Bes’thende are also looking to add more firepower up front to partner with Mabuthi Khenyeza after loanees Andile Fikizolo and Prince Nxumalo returned to parent club SuperSport United.

Mthethwa says a move to Chippa is not out of the window yet, but that Arrows are most likely to sign the player nwo.

“We were so close for him to sign for Chippa United, I was fighting for the club to remove some clauses in the deal,” Mthethwa tells

“Now Arrows have thrown themselves in the ring and are offering him what we wants, and we are discussing the figures now.”

Manzini fell even further down the pecking order at Celtic recently after the club signed Geofrey Massa from University of Pretoria.
