Ajax Cape Town’s Bantu Mzwakali admits he is eyeing a move to a Gauteng-based club, yet reveals no concrete offers have yet been made.
The 21-year-old, who joined the Urban Warriors as a youth product in 2008, enjoyed a stellar season with the club this past campaign, his 24 appearances across all competitions helping his side to a fifth-place League finish and a runners-up spot in the Nedbank Cup.
A number of eye-catching performances have reportedly sparked interest from a host of PSL clubs, with the young attacking midfielder admitting he is targeting a move to a bigger club.
“I would like a move away, but for now I have a contract with Ajax – they’re still in control, so there’s nothing I can do unless a team buys me out,” he tells KickOff.com.
“I would prefer a Gauteng club over anything else because as a player, you need challenges in life. Playing for a big team in Joburg will definitely help me grow as a player.”
However, Mzwakali says no offers has yet been made as he continues his preseason preparations with Ajax, but insists he will bide his time until the right moment comes.
“I’m still waiting on my agent, but I don’t want to rush anything things – I will just have to wait for the right time,” he says.
“No concrete offers have come through – I’ve just been reading the papers about me, but I don’t want to put that on top of my head. I just want to play football. Whatever happens, I’ll take it from there.”
The youngsters says he is very grateful to his current club for shaping him into the player he is, having been in the Ajax structures for the past seven years.
“I’ve been at Ajax since I was young, and I’m happy with everything they’ve done for me,” he says. “They’ve made me the person I am today, they’ve given me support and have done everything for me.”
Ajax will start their 2015/16 League campaign with a clash against Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg.
