Bidvest Wits insist Siyabonga Nhlapo is not for sale

Posted: 2 July 2015 Time: 18:16

Bidvest Wits right-back Siyabonga Nhlapo will remain at the club despite outside attempts to lure him away from the Clever Boys.

Nhlapo was reliable at right-back this past season, earning a Bafana Bafana call-up and starting 31 games in all competitions to continue his consistent run that had him starting 32 games the previous season after arriving from Jomo Cosmos.

The club has confirmed that there has been interest in the 26-year-old from at least two clubs, but insist they are not even considering selling him.

“We are not selling him,” Wits CEO Jose Ferreira tells KickOff.com.

“Why should we even start to think about selling a player who has been performing so well for us? We are a club with ambitions and we want to be competing and getting better and for that to happen we have to retain our best players.

“It is normal for other clubs to enquire or show interest but in this case we are not even interested in selling.”

Though he arrived at Wits as a midfielder, Nhlapo has been shifted to play as a right-back and has done a superb job there.
