Zimbabwean midfielder Ovidy Karuru has been afforded the chance to convince new coach Steve Komphela to push Kaizer Chiefs into possibly reversing their decision to make him available for a loan move away from Naturena for the new season.
The club announced at the beginning of the month that Karuru will be loaned out in the new season along with Simphiwe Mtsweni, Chris Matombo, Levy Mokgothu and Zitha Macheke.
Macheke and Matombo have since been moved to Chippa United on season-long deals, while the left-back duo of Mtsweni and Mokgothu is definitely leaving with that position already congested following the return of Keegan Ritchie.
With regards to Karuru – who arrived at the beginning of last season from Belgium – he has now been afforded an opportunity to use the ongoing pre-season to charm Komphela.
Game-time was agonisingly difficult to come by for Karuru last season as Chiefs went on a record-breaking campaign under Stuart Baxter, and he was eventually limited to a mere two starts and one substitute appearance all season.
The reality has been that the 26-year-old never got much of a chance to showcase his qualities despite winning the favour of the club in getting them to sign him this time last year after a brief assessment.
Karuru plays as an attacking midfielder.
