Punch Masenamela explains Polokwane City move

Posted: 19 June 2015 Time: 19:03

New Polokwane City signing Punch Masenamela says he is looking forward to playing ‘nice football’ alongside his new teammates in 2015/16.

The former Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars left-back says one of the reasons he was attracted to his hometown team is because of the type of football they play.

“They play nice football starting from the back and building up. When I was at Platinum Stars, it used to be tough playing against them,” Masenamela says.

Despite some claims that this is a step back for his career after playing for the big teams, the 28-year-old is adamant that this is the right move.

“This is not a step back, I thought about it and when the chairman [Johnny Mogaladi] and my agent [Jazzman Mahlakgane] called me telling me they were interested in my services, I was so happy.

“It is about time I go back home and give back… I was born and bred here. I left Polokwane when I was 16 and there is nothing new for me,” says Masenamela, who was born in Bochum.
