CONFIRMED: Coach Komphela joins Kaizer Chiefs from Maritzburg United

Posted: 17 June 2015 Time: 09:41

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the appointment of Steve Komphela as their new head coach.

Amakhosi were looking to fill the hotseat vacated by Stuart Baxter, who has moved to Turkey after three successful seasons at Naturena.

Komphela resigned from Maritzburg United on Monday, fuelling speculation that he could move to Chiefs – and the club has now confirmed that he has signed a three-year deal.

He becomes the first local, fulltime coach at Chiefs since Trott Moloto in 1994. Wellington Manyathi (1997), Jacob Sephoa (1999) and Doctor Khumalo and Ace Khuse (2002/03) were all caretakers.
