Bloemfontein Celtic striker Dumisani Zuma admits it was a pleasant surprise to receive a national Under-23 call up.
The KwaZulu-Natal born forward admitted he already had his mind focused on club matter in preparation for the new season when he received the news.
“I totally did not expect it,” he said. “I had told my mind that I need to prepare for the next season where I had to work hard and improve on my game.
“It has always been a pleasure and a great feeling to be called up to the national team and I am looking forward to doing well."
Zuma, who has featured in the Under-20 national team, said this call up will make his dream of playing in the Olympics a reality.
“There is still lot of hard work that needs to be done by us," he said.
"It is good to be back in the national team and connect with some of the guys that I have not been in touch with for some time.
“I think this is our chance to prove ourselves and give it our best so that we can turn our dreams into reality."
The national U-23 men’s side, also known as the South African Olympic Team, reported for camp on Friday night in Johannesburg in preparation for two international friendly matches ahead of their Olympic qualifiers in July.
