KickOff.com can reveal that Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo could be lost to the PSL next season after attracting interest from Belgium and Turkey.
Phungwayo's contract with Pirates is set to expire in June and he has already attracted interest locally from Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
Information gathered by this website from a reliable source reveals that the Alexandra-born defender has met with Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza recently to discuss a new contract in the wake of serious interest from overseas.
"Pirates are keen to retain 'Booka' [Phungwayo]. He has met with the chairman but still not yet signed and he is waiting for Dr Khoza to return from Zurich to meet with his agent Mike Makaab," says the source.
"There are two teams from Belgium and Turkey that have shown huge interest. The boy wants a good contract but respects both the Pirates chairman and the club and hence he has given Bucs the first preference before entertaining other offers."

Phungwayo refused to talk about his future at Pirates when KickOff.com called him this afternoon.
"There are rules and regulations at Pirates which don't allow players speak to the media without the club's permission. I respect the club and please respect my position when it comes to speaking to the media my brother," Phungwayo says.
