Hendrick Ekstein learning lots with Bafana

Despite the disappointing results, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Hendrick Ekstein says he has learnt a lot during his time with Bafana Bafana.

The 24-year-old played in the Cosafa Cup practice matches against Lesotho and Malawi, but failed to get off the bench in the tournament proper when Bafana lost to Botswana.

Still, ‘Pule’ says he has cherished his first experience with the national team.

“The pressure is always there as one wants to impress, doing well for the country,” he tells Chiefs’ official website.

“The experience of playing those friendlies was good. We had trained very hard and we wanted to succeed. I personally learnt a lot from these three friendlies.”

Ekstein adds: “We had expectations as a team and I had dreams of winning with South Africa. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed. However, it has been a great learning experience so far.”
