Thanda Royal Zulu central defender Velile Zitha has emerged as a transfer target for PSL clubs, with three sides having already started knocking hard on the Richards Bay-based club’s doors.
Zitha was a standout performer at the back for Thanda in their failed promotion mission and KickOff.com has established that Chippa United, along with a KwaZulu-Natal based PSL club and another club in Gauteng are all bidding for the 25-year-old.
“Chippa are pushing very hard, but they can easily be overtaken by the club from Gauteng who are more stable.
“The other club also keen on him is from KZN, but chances of them getting him are also hanging based on other factors. This will really be interesting,” says an official at Thanda.
Zitha has probably been the most consistent defender in the First Division for the past three years, stretching back to his time at Sivutsa Stars. He can also play at right-back and as a holding midfielder.
Meanwhile, former Maritzburg United midfielder Jabulani Ncubeni is linked with a move to Golden Arrows.
Ncubeni, who spent the past season with Thanda, is also understood to have already agreed terms with Arrows.
